The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible - Arthur C. Clarke
Believe it or not, it is still possible to buy land with nothing but the handshake and a promise. If you’ve ever tried to get a loan from a bank to purchase land, you probably understand how difficult it can be. Banks do not like lending money on undeveloped land. If they do lend money for undeveloped land, they’re likely to ask the 50% or more for the down payment. Who can come up with that ammount of money in this day and age when people are living on shoestring budgets?
There is a man by the name of Michael Long that still sells Oregon land on nothing more than a handshake and a promise. His cheap oregon land is all financed by him and his wife. He’s an old fashioned guy that believes in giving people second chances. He understands that a lot of people have bad credit these days and that bad credit is in fact so prevalent that a credit report may not be the best way to determine whether not someone will pay back the loan or not.
Michael has been selling land in Southern Oregon for over 25 years now with this same policy. He doesn’t do any credit checks so everyone qualifies. All that is required to buy land for Michael is a small down payment of between $200 and $500. He’ll even let you stretch the down payment out over a two month period in some cases if things are tight for you. Monthly payments start as low as $145 and go up to around $250.
Michael’s lots start at around $8500 and go up to around $25,000. Most of the properties range in size from 1 to 3 acres. Some of the lots have power and phone while others do not. Many people buy property from Michael to live off the grid and power their homes with solar panels or wind turbines.
