Make the most of teeth whitening

August 31st, 2010

During a lifetime when we become middle aged, a lot of people look back to their childhood to remember themselves about how they used to love not having to worry about the amount of sweets that they ate as another set of teeth would always grow back – there was no need to think about teeth paint or anything of the sort. Too many of us still seem to have that ideology through our life as we sadly let our teeth deteriorate in quality until they turn brown and then we finally realise what we have let them succumb to. Fortunately we now have the chance of changing around this situation into something else far positive and making the teeth gleam once again.

The main thing that one should realise is that they have to be sure over what type of treatment they are going to choose before they have it done – especially as they are so different.

Now, people do a lot of things in their lifestyle that leads to the quality of their teeth lowering and gaining plaque. Of course, these are mainly factors such as smoking a large quantity of cigarettes and drinking lots of tea or coffee. Now if people took the choice of cutting their specific habit down slightly, then they might find that their teeth look better as the enamel is given a chance to recover.

It is a shame that the difference can hardly be seen for the majority, so teeth whitening becomes a necessity instead to restore some quality to their teeth. Now if a person only is suffering with plaque on a few teeth, then it would be perfect for them to use a home whitening treatment. On the other hand if all their teeth are struggling, then it would better for them to have a cosmetic dentist deal with them.

Dental Bleaching Kits To Use In Home Have Differences

August 14th, 2010

Are you one of those people who constantly wishes that their teeth were whiter? It can be quite difficult to keep your teeth white if you are constantly drinking coffee, smoking or drinking red wine. All of these and even more foods cause discoloration in your teeth that can be almost impossible to get rid of. You can use a home dental whitening kit, but most of them don’t really work as they are supposed to – and this is mostly because of the limitations that are set in legislation. FDA for example sets the limits for the maximal amount of bleaching agent that can be used in these kits in the US – some companies go lower than these limits to be safe, some have high quality factories where they can produce a whitener that is just at the limit and will give the best effects.

The problem with dental bleaching kits is that if there isn’t enough bleaching agent in it, it will not do anything. 14% of carbamide peroxide is the exact same amount that dentists use for whitening your teeth, and there is a big reason for this. It is the smallest amount that is still safe and will produce some results. Bleaching kits that have less peroxides in them don’t work even if you use more of them that is advised – the solution simply isn’t strong enough to even start the whitening process in your teeth.

Before you choose to use any home bleaching kit for your teeth, it is a good idea to visit your dentist and get a full check up done. At the same time you should ask how much a dentist will charge for teeth whitening, just to be sure that you are saving money doing it yourself – if you think that it is not expensive to have it done at the dentists, you should have a professional do it for you.
