Laundry Room Organization Made Simple

Doing the laundry is not hard. You simply separate the clothes, put them in the washing machine, then the dryer and put them away.  However, if you have a disorganized and messy laundry room then laundry can be quite the hassle.  Since it is not a widely visited area for guests, its easy to let the laundry area get out of control.  Laundry detergent on the floor, clothes lying around and additional items thrown where ever they can fit.  But laundry room organization isn’t difficult nor is it expensive.  With a few  implementations you can have your laundry area back to the way it once was.

It is important to organize all the essentials such as detergents, dryer sheets, clothes, bleaches and any other items you use regularly.  As with your home or office, you want to make sure that the tools you use are easy to access.  If you have a big enough area, installing a laundry cabinet is a good investment of your time and money.  You can put all of your essentials in there so they are out of site as well as various other items like clothes line pegs, cleaning rags and other cleaning products. If you do not have enough room, you can install a few shelves to store all of your items.  You can find shelves that are designed specifically for these types of areas and have little accessories such as hooks and a place to put hangers.

You will want to put your laundry hampers in an easily accessible location.  I know that I have had a laundry area that wasn’t that big and so I constantly had to remove the hampers to get to my washing machine and it was a pain. So if possible, keep them out of the way.  Another quick and easy tip is to add a small trash bin inside the area, or hang a small plastic bag so as to collect all of the lint from the dryer.

When it comes to organizing your home, you would be surprised at how the little things start to add up. Your laundry area may not seem like a priority but if you find yourself constantly flustered when you are there, you may want to take some action.
