Halloween is just around the corner and it’s one of the most popular days for dogs. Dressing dogs in Halloween costumes, marching them in Halloween costume parades, and baking them special Halloween dog treats are just a few ways to enjoy the day with your pooch. Not all dogs are willing to dress up in costume or march in a Halloween parade, but most will be more than happy to scarf up a tasty snack.

Making homemade dog treats for Halloween can be a lot of fun. With a variety of dog treat recipes available, you are bound to find something that your pooch will like. According to one dog bakery owner who knows quite a bit about homemade dog treats, the most popular flavored dog treats are chicken dog treats and peanut butter dog treats. I found two dog recipes for Halloween treats and one uses peanut butter and the other is chicken flavored. If you have your own dog recipes at home you can probably use them and just cut the treats into Halloween shapes. However, before you make any kind of pet treat you should consult the list of foods that are harmful to dogs.

The first recipe for the homemade dog treats is called Baxter’s Boo Biscuits. This recipe will make about 3 dozen dog biscuits.

Baxter’s Boo Biscuits

Ingredients:

2 cups brown rice flour

1/2 cup peanut butter

2 tsp baking powder

3/4 cup water

1/4 cup melted butter

Directions: Preheat oven to 35o degrees. Combine dry ingredients in large mixing bowl. Mix together. Add butter and water and mix together until dough forms. Roll dough on floured surface into 1/4″ thickness. Use Halloween cookie cutter in the shape of a ghost (boo biscuits) and cut out the treats. Place treats on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Treats will be crunchy. Let cool and serve. Store in an open container.

The next recipe is for homemade chicken dog treats called Witchy Woofers.
