Even though you may have many friends and colleagues, they are not the same as a truly good friend. A real friend is someone who is willing to be at your side no matter how severe the situation is. The person will defend you in all circumstances and will not leave you alone when you really need a shoulder to cry on. A good friend is not only a person who shares your happiness, but your sorrows as well. In fact, some people who have very good friends admit that a good friend is somewhat closer than their own siblings.
You won’t be able to get a good friend if you are not willing to be a good friend in the first place. This concept is universally accepted, and it is proven in a lot of scenarios. If you are rude to someone, you can’t expect him to be nice to you, can you? However, if you 
are polite to someone, there is a huge potential that the person will be polite to you in return. You have to remember that a good friend is difficult to find, and that you must work hard to find one. The secret is to be kind at all times and support your friend in whatever he does, as long as he is not involved in illegitimate activities.
You must never push anybody to be your good friend because this method will never work. You have to be patient and open-minded. Don’t expect a person to like you after having a five minute conversation with you. Being willing and available to help your new found friend. Offer to take your portable chipper shredder to their home for some yard cleanup during the weekend. Spend time during fun things, like taking turns piloting your flying toy helicopter or enjoying a round of golf. Be a good friend and your efforts will be returned in kind.
