Reupholster that chair with Carole Fabrics

That chair has been in your family for generations, handed down to you from your Grandmother who got it from her Grandmother. The chair is still sturdy, the wood is in great condition and the finish just needs some new stain.  The problem is the upholstery fabric is faded and worn and needs replacing.

The first step in reupholstering your chair is to remove the existing fabric and padding.  If you flip the chair over you will see that the fabric is either attached to the chair directly or attached to a seat base.  In either case you will need to remove the staples or tacks to remove the fabric.

After removing the fabric be sure to check the condition of the padding and see if it needs replacing.  If it does then be sure to replace it with a high quality foam that you will be pleased with.  Now you need to measure the fabric.  Lay it on a flat surface and measure both the length and the width and add an extra couple of inches on each side to be safe.

With these measurements in hand you can now pick out the fabric that is best for the conditions that your chair will endure.  You might want to find a durable fabric if your chair is used daily and will have some abuse.  If your chair is more for looks and used only occasionally then you can expand your choices to include more delicate fabrics from the Carole Fabric Collection.
