Negative Effects of Too Much Alcohol

August 4th, 2010

Are you one of those who are addicted to alcohol? Do you know that alcohols can give you numerous body ailments and worst even one’s death?

When people drink alcohol, it is absorbed into the bloodstream. From there, it will affect the central nervous system like the spinal cord and the brain which controls all the body functions. Since it is a depressant, it slows down the function of the central nervous system by blocking some of the messages trying to get into the brain. This will alter the person’s perceptions, movement, vision, emotions and even its hearing.

This substance can actually help a person feel more relaxed and less anxious. While a more intake of this will cause greater changes in the brain, which results in intoxication. People who actually overused this substance could have made their movements disoriented, make their speech slur, they may even lose their coordination while drunk, and could even make them confused. Depending on some person, the level of intoxication may differ through the effects. Sometimes the effects of intoxication may result to a person being so very friendly, talkative or even very aggressive and could make you angry.

The reason for people not to drink while driving is that it slows down the reaction time of people. The intoxicated person actually thinks that he or she is moving properly when they are actually not. This is because the brains activities are the most affected when intoxication happens.

Too much consumption of alcohol in a short period of time will result to alcohol poisoning. In this stage, the body has become poisoned because of the large amount of this substance that had been present on the body. One symptom of this is vomiting, other symptoms may be sleepiness, unconsciousness, low blood sugar, difficulty in breathing, seizures, and worst even death.

If you have decided to take the change then you should consider visiting a counselor or a physician for help so that they may give you good advices concerning your problem and could help you find a good way to stop the vice, such as with an Alcoholism Detoxification Program. Alcohol detox is the only way many can ever stop. .

Controlling Underarm Odor

August 4th, 2010

Armpit sweat is one of the foulest things a nose can smell. There are few other scents that compare with this pungent odor and most of them are classes unto themselves: rotten eggs, for example. Underarm odor is looked upon as a bad smell in modern societies everywhere.

A belief that is somewhat common thanks to cultural relativists is that one’s preferences about taste and smell are determined by the culture that one experienced as a child. Recent research has revealed that the opposite is the case. In fact, no matter what culture you look at, humans share preferences for taste and smell all over the world.

An important part of maintaining good body odor, especially underarm odor, is by eating healthily. Your diet influences the chemical consistency within your body, and certain foods can produce adverse effects ranging from the mild to the severe.

Carbohydrates are one food type that can have a negative nutritional effect on the body. Some people do not have the enzymes to eat processed foods. This is due to a genetic defect that results in deficiency of certain digestive enzymes. For this reason, it is imperative to research as much as you can about the food you eat. It will not only aid you in overcoming underarm odor, it will make you a happier and healthier person.

If you cannot afford the time or the money to pursue  professional treatments, underarm odor is best dealt with by applying a deodorant or antiperspirant. Excessive underarm sweat is called hyperhidrosis. It is a disorder that usually requires medical treatment. Consult with your physician before attempting any treatment yourself with commercially-available products. Deodorants can be made from natural organic materials while antiperspirants are manufactured from chemicals. You may want to choose a deodorant instead of an antiperspirant if you have trouble with chemical products.

Going About Relieving Constipation In Toddlers

August 2nd, 2010

With the ever changing schedules and eating habits toddlers are subjected to, it is no wonder they are plagued by constipation. Nobody wants to see their little one feeling pain and discomfort, constipation in toddlers can be stressful for everyone. So how can this situation be resolved?

The daily diet of a child is first to consider. It is important to keep a proper balance of grains and fruit in their meal planning, to allow for good digestion. As children are choosy when it comes to what they will eat, creatively introducing fruits and grains may be necessary. Quality fruit juices that contain only real fruit are an option for those who won’t eat fresh fruit. Prepackaged fruit cups can be fun as well, if simply for the novelty factor. To keep grains a part of a smart diet, make sure that your family enjoys whole grain products, and allowing children to snack on whole grain cereals makes finger foods healthy and fun.

Schedules are very important for children. When a child can eat, sleep and use the restroom as a matter of routine, they will develop healthy habits. A regular bathroom break each day will encourage your child to have bowel movements almost according to the time of day. If you notice your toddler is having some trouble using the bathroom, it is suggested that you try to stay close to home or in an environment where your child is completely relaxed, so that they do not become stressed about using the toilet.

If a regular schedule of eating, sleeping and using the bathroom, as well as an intelligent menu, does not encourage your child to have a regular bowel movement, then an alternative method may need to be considered. Used properly, an over the counter laxative designed for the little bowels and bodies of infants and toddlers can provide relief. Small amounts of Karo syrup placed in a toddler’s beverage cup can prove effective, and usually goes undetected when mixed with a drink they enjoy. A warm bath may speed things along, as well as a rest period spent wrapped in warm blankets.

To avoid discomfort for your toddler and stress in the household, a little common sense will go a long way. Avoiding and relieving constipation in toddlers may be as simple as eliminating stress and change in the schedule of your little one. Perimenopause: The Start of Menopause

July 31st, 2010

Menopause is when a woman is no longer fertile or capable of becoming pregnant. At this point, the ovaries stop dropping mature eggs that are capable of being fertilized. Menopause is actually an exact date; it is the day a woman has her last and final day of menstrual bleeding. But this exact date is not always known, so in order to confirm menopause usually a one year time frame without menstruation is usually recommended to fully confirm menopause. Until this entire year without menstruation has occurred it is best to stray on the side of caution as far as birth control is concerned, because it may still be possible to conceive at this time. It’s not uncommon for women to miss 2 – 3 months of bleeding only to then have a period, this is the reason for the one year confirmation time frame.

In most cases, menopause is a slow gradual decline in fertility, but in some cases such as with surgery or illness, menopause may happen suddenly. Women that experience a sudden menopause experience a sudden drop in hormone production that is known to bring on worse symptoms than symptoms usually experienced during a more natural menopause. Natural menopause usually occurs to most women in their 50s, but may occur any time naturally between 40 and 65 years of age. Prior to menopause, there is a phase called perimenopause. Perimenopause is sort of like a pre menopause phase that begins to mark the decline in fertility. It is during perimenopause that estrogen and progesterone production begins to become erratic, these are the hormones that are responsible for regulating menstruation and ovulation. Hormonal imbalance is also what causes perimenopause symptoms.

Prior to perimenopause, women menstruate and ovulate every month, but during perimenopause this slowly begins to change. While ovulation is still occurring, it may not happen every month, this makes it harder to conceive. Since natural menopause can happen as early as 40 years old, a lot of women may be surprised to find out that decrease in fertility can occur in their 30s. For most women it doesn’t happen until they reach their 40s, but 30s, although still fairly young, is still considered normal.

Things to do when your child is suffering from allergy

July 31st, 2010

Cough due to allergy is a very common thing in the small kids. It may be due to infection or due to some pollution problem. It’s very irritating for adults even so what will be case for the kids. It’s also not tolerable by the small kids and it even breaks the parent’s heart because they are helpless for the kids.

The cough will take some time to cure and giving antibiotics for every small thing won’t help your children at all. When my kids get cough it’s really a bad situation for me too as I have to see their ill faces constantly, feeling very helpless. We are for sure helpless in such situations but still we can do some things to help the kids to ease out the difficult situation for them by doing some small things like below;

1) Always give some hot shake to the kid on the lungs it will ease their breathing by liquidating the cough and making the respiratory duct clear for the fresh air.

2) If possible spend the day with them if they need to take bed rest as it will help them a lot in gaining confidence. After all kids want their parent time as much as possible. Spending such quality time will help them get well soon as the mental effect also matters.

3) Try to distract their thinking from the illness, play some indoor games or video game with them and keep them happy.

4) Don’t call their friends to play with them because this will open them for some infection or your kid will get some other infection, in both cases the effects are bad so avoid this.

Happiness is the key to get well soon. You also need to be happy to make your kid happy.

Treating Lateral Epicondylitis Injury

July 30th, 2010

Even if you do not play tennis, you can get tennis elbow, believe it or not. Research shows that a large number of people who have suffered from tennis elbow are actually not tennis players and have not even played tennis before. The cause of lateral epicondylitis, the medical term for tennis elbow, in their case is repetitive use of the arm in swinging motions while gripping an object lie while painting, digging, hammering, carrying items in an office and throwing. Do not think that just because you do not play tennis, you cannot be affected by this injury.

Tennis elbow is a very debilitating injury, more so because the available cures for tennis elbow only focus on setting the stage for healing to take place and do not actually treat the injured tendons. The initial symptoms of the injury often go unnoticed because they are very mild, including tenderness on the elbow, tingly sensation, numbness and finger and wrist coordination difficulties. Continued use of the arm at this point is what often leads to more severe symptoms within a few hours or a day. The injured tendons by this time become very sensitive, there will be difficulty in moving the arm and the fingers and a sharp pain every time you stretch or fold the arm or attempt to lift objects, even the lightest ones.

Once you are certain that you have tennis elbow injury, first seek to have treatment and remedies that will alleviate the pain and prevent the swelling of the injury. There are different types of lateral epicondylitis treatment options but the basic home remedies involve application of ice or frozen peas to prevent swelling and inflammation and allowing the injured arm rest. Depending on the severity of the injury, it may sometimes be necessary to surgically repair the injured tendons but this will be the doctor’s call and it rarely gets to this point.

You should avoid using the injured arm before it completely heals. As a matter of fact, you should consider taking a break from active tasks that require the use of the arm even in simple tasks because these can worsen the condition. Anti-inflammatory medications can be applied on the injured arm or taken orally if the inflammation cannot be prevented. Keep the injured arm compressed with a bandage to accelerate healing and always wear a tennis elbow so as to keep the arm protected to prevent further injuries that result from use and swinging of the arm.

Hot Flashes and Night Sweats

July 30th, 2010

If you are experiencing hot flashes and night sweats, and your condition is severe enough to make you seek treatment, you should know that there are many treatment options available to you. That is true if you look for alternatives outside of those offered by conventional medicine, which is basically limited to HRT, or Hormone Replacement Therapy. In HRT, doctors attempt to raise levels of estrogen in the body through the use of drugs. It is hoped that this will decrease levels of FSH and LH, the hormones thought to be responsible for causing the hot flashes, as levels of these hormones in the body are thought to rise in response to the falling levels of estrogen in women approaching menopause.

This theory probably has at least some validity, even if the exact causes of hot flashes and night sweats are still unknown. However, HRT presents risks which may not be necessary to take, as there are safer, natural ways to deal with the condition.
One of the most effective ways can actually start right at home. This involves some lifestyle and habit changes and so takes more will power than simply popping a pill, however. You can start by making a point of avoiding goods which can trigger hot flashes and night sweats. These include spicy foods, white sugar, hot drinks, and intoxicants ranging from coffee to alcohol to cigarettes.

Exercising just three times a week for 20 minutes can be effective in increasing endorphin levels, which drop during hot flashes. At the same time, it decrease FSH and LH levels, which is exactly what you want for preventing or lessening the severity of hot flashes.
If you’ve tried these courses to no avail or don’t have the willpower to stick with such changes, or if you’d just like to attack the problem from all angles, herbal remedies may be extremely effective course that will work. Ideally, you want to consult an herbalist or someone else skilled in herbal healing as there are many choices of herbs and some have contraindications.
