The Secret To Stopping Your Jaw Clenching

September 6th, 2010

If you are constantly clenching your jaw then you don’t need me to tell you how frustrating and even painful it can be. You feel like it should be something that you can control, but inexplicably your jaw gets tense and clenches before you notice it even happening. In this article I’m going to list a few ways that you can combat a clenched jaw and get back to living with a healthy, relaxed jaw.

Before we start anything, it’s very important that you go and see your doctor or dentist. They will of course give you the best advice. If you don’t think it warrants a trip to the doctor but you still want to do something about it, then read on. So, The reason your jaw is clenching is usually because of either stress, bad posture, past trauma or genetic make up. Most of the time it is stress and I’ll tell you a few ways to deal with that now. When you stress often, you build up tension in your body. If this continues consistently, then your jaw will eventually be effected and the muscles in your jaw will become tight and rigid. This can continue until eventually in some cases, lock jaw can happen.

So you need to stress as little as possible. To do this you need to practice awareness. Take a look at your thoughts and environment, what causes you to stress, where are you when  your jaw starts clenching? Is your jaw clenching at night?Whenever you start to feel clenching or stress, take a few minutes out if you can; close your eyes and breathe deeply for a few minutes. This might not seem like it will do anything, but it is a fantastic help to your jaw and body overall. As well as this, always try to sit and stand with correct posture. When you slouch, your back is put under too much stress and other parts of your body are left to pick up the work. This can again lead to tension build up in your jaw and even more restriction in movement. So sit with your back straight and your shoulders back. If you’re sitting in your chair now, sit properly and notice how if affects the rest of your body.

Ok so there are two very simple ways to help stop your clenching jaw. If these things aren’t doing it for you, then you may want to consider TMJ exercises or TMJ mouth guards. These have both been designed to help people with jaw pain and can be very beneficial for you, especially the exercises. So remember, eat right, do exercise, stay relaxed and keep correct posture; your jaw will love you for it.

Skincare for Children

September 3rd, 2010

Kids are not supposed to apply any skin care products to their skin as their skin cells are yet to develop, hence it is imperative that parents try to keep their kids’ skin away from chemicals and other skin irritants found in non natural skincare products.

To maintain the development of their skin cells, you should use mild and hypo allergenic soap for their baths. There are also skin care products that are specially made for kids. Most of these products contain natural ingredients that pose no harm to the very sensitive skin of children.

It is also crucial that you not let your children be exposed to the harmful UV rays of the sun. However, knowing that kids are so fond of playing and spending time outdoors, like running around the backyard chasing the dogs, all you can do is give them the maximum skin protection against damage caused by the sun. There are various sun block creams that have different amounts of SPF.

Another area of concern is insect bites. When it comes to their protection against insect bites, it is advisable that you use one of the most effective types of insect repellants. These repellants come in different forms, namely lotion, cream, and spray. Choose the ones that contain citronella, which has been tested and proven to be effective in keeping insects away.

If you want your child to have a well hydrated and nourished skin, use baby lotion after every bath. You may also consider buying a bedtime lotion for your kids. This will not only soften their skin, but will also help them have a good night’s sleep.

Needless to say, it is very important that you give proper attention and care to your children’s skin so that they can keep their healthy and radiant skin throughout their growing years.

The Problem with Smoking

September 1st, 2010

Globally, the world is encouraging everyone to stop smoking and live a healthier lifestyle. Education has always been the backbone of the quit smoking psychology and physiology. Today, legalization and restrictions have been included as a thorough reinforcement to stop smoking particularly in public places. The irony of smoking cessation is that it is this same government that establishes these restrictions that also collects more than 85% of taxes from a packet of cigarettes. In spite of these steps taken to curb the vice and change one’s habit, smoking still continues to kill over a thousand people each year multiplying by a shocking 80% each year.

For years, many governments and social bodies have attempted to persuade people to stop smoking through various methods. Every possible effort has been made to help people stop smoking such as setting up of various council classes to help people get over their habit. Modern society has also reverted to adverse steps to help people stop smoking. With the ban of cigarettes in public places, workers and employees have to now step outside their office buildings if they wish to indulge in a smoke. In spite of all such actions taken to ban smoking, it still persists.

Attempts such as displaying decayed images of the lungs, videos of smokers on packs of cigarettes have not resulted in the desired expectations. Quit smoking aids like lozenges, patches and gums have been introduced to help people overcome their addiction but to no avail. The problem persists and a full remedy to its solution is far away from the horizon. If you’re in a position to quit smoking, you should do so with haste. The fact of the matter is, smoking is one of the most disgusting habits that causes these deaths each year – it simply isn’t worth it. Quit smoking now.

Make the most of teeth whitening

August 31st, 2010

During a lifetime when we become middle aged, a lot of people look back to their childhood to remember themselves about how they used to love not having to worry about the amount of sweets that they ate as another set of teeth would always grow back – there was no need to think about teeth paint or anything of the sort. Too many of us still seem to have that ideology through our life as we sadly let our teeth deteriorate in quality until they turn brown and then we finally realise what we have let them succumb to. Fortunately we now have the chance of changing around this situation into something else far positive and making the teeth gleam once again.

The main thing that one should realise is that they have to be sure over what type of treatment they are going to choose before they have it done – especially as they are so different.

Now, people do a lot of things in their lifestyle that leads to the quality of their teeth lowering and gaining plaque. Of course, these are mainly factors such as smoking a large quantity of cigarettes and drinking lots of tea or coffee. Now if people took the choice of cutting their specific habit down slightly, then they might find that their teeth look better as the enamel is given a chance to recover.

It is a shame that the difference can hardly be seen for the majority, so teeth whitening becomes a necessity instead to restore some quality to their teeth. Now if a person only is suffering with plaque on a few teeth, then it would be perfect for them to use a home whitening treatment. On the other hand if all their teeth are struggling, then it would better for them to have a cosmetic dentist deal with them.

What to tell your Dentist at your next checkup

August 31st, 2010

If you have been experiencing any pain in your mouth, you need to speak to your Memphis Dentist. Something that may not seem like a big deal to you like having multiple canker sores can actually be an indication of a serious health condition. It is best to have your dentist check on every little problem in order to ensure your gums and teeth are healthy.

Visiting a new Memphis Dental office typically means that you need to have a thorough examination done in order to check on your teeth and for your dentist to acquire information about your dental history. As the dentist becomes familiar with your teeth, they will be able to diagnose problems with your teeth in the future much easier. Seeing things such as decay due to your family’s dental history will be easy for a dentist to identify and hopefully prevent problems like root canals.

One thing you need to talk to your dentist about should be your concerns. Do you wake up with a sore jaw? It could mean that you grind your teeth at night. Do you commonly suffer pain when you eat and drink? This indicates sensitive teeth, which can lead to not only pain when eating or drinking but can lead to decay as the dentin of the teeth may be exposed.

Not only do you want to mention pain and concerns you have, you also need to talk to your dentist about other things. If you fear needles, specifically shots in your mouth your dentist needs to be aware of this.  Talking to your dentist and becoming comfortable with them will help you to feel better about receiving shots and dental care. If you have been diagnosed with a medical condition, tell your dentist. They need to be aware of conditions that can interrupt their dental treatment l

Oral Care Beyond Brushing

August 30th, 2010

We all know that brushing our teeth after every meal is one of the best ways to prevent plaque and tooth decay. What a lot of us fail to realize is that brushing alone is not enough to keep your smile healthy and bright. There are a lot of important oral hygiene tips besides brushing that if followed will give you a bright and healthy smile. Below a santa clarita dentist shares a few tips beyond brushing to keep your teeth in top condition.

There is no way around it, you need to floss more. Too many people save flossing for late at night right before bed only to find themselves too tired to actually do it. So they fall asleep and leave dangerous decay causing debris in the gaps of their teeth. One of the best things you could do for your teeth is floss more. One thing that has shown to help people improve their flossing is to leave floss in the desk at hour and in their car so that it is conveniently located.

Start eating more “detergent” foods. Firm and crisp foods actually help to clean teeth while being eaten. Some of the best firm and crisp foods good for cleaning teeth are, apples, celery, and raw carrots. These detergent foods can come in very handy when you are unable to brush after lunch or a mid-day snack.

Gargle a glass of apple cider vinegar each morning before brushing. The vinegar can actually remove stains, whiten teeth, and kill bacteria.

Take your oral hygiene to new heights with these tips and proper brushing. It is important to remember that no matter how good your oral hygiene maybe you still need to have regular checkups with your dentist. Professional cleanings are the only way for your teeth to be completely free of plague and they also give your dentist the opportunity to check for any other serious health conditions. Visit my dentist in santa clarita for more tips on oral care.

The Ionic detox foot bath is supposed to be one of the best types of foot baths that you can purchase. They draw toxins from the body using Ions and tepid saline water. You can actually see the toxins that have been removed from the body as they color the water. There are 2,000 large pores in the feet and it is the Ions that draw them out. Helping you to feel Relaxed

Even if you do not believe that Ionic foot baths are good at removing toxins from the body, one advantage you will love is how relaxed you feel afterwards. Most people who have used the bath say that they feel lighter than they have done in a long time. They also claim that they feel a lot more relaxed too.

Helping the Body to Function

One of the main advantages to the Ionic foot bath is that it helps the body to function in a healthier way. Its aim is to detox and to help the chemicals to flow freely through the body. The Ions in the water of the foot bath draw out the toxins and they encourage the cells to flow freely, rather than stick together.

There are many people who do not believe that these foot baths have the benefits that are claimed. However, if you talk to the hundreds of people who have actually bought one, you will see that they completely believe in the benefits that they have received. Whether the bath has a significant effect on the body or not it certainly helps you to feel better. Therefore if you are looking to detox and you want a safe, healthy way to do it, the Ionic detox foot bath might be just what you need.

Enfisema Pulmonar Information

August 29th, 2010

Enfisema Pulmonar is a form of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). The main characteristics of COPD are the obstruction of normal airflow which usually manifests in the patient’s inability to breath normally, even while doing the most common tasks, like walking around in the house. In the United State of America, COPD is listed in position four for the number of death causes. According to studies, approximately 12 million people have been diagnosed with this health condition and another 12 million are estimated to have contracted a form of COPD, but have not been diagnosed, yet.

The disease can be diagnosed rather easily through a breathing test. Smoking is the major cause for Enfisema Pulmonar. However, the illness can also be contracted by exposure to toxins, such as asbestos fibers. Similar to other respiratory diseases, Enfisema Pulmonar has a rather long latency period. It is not uncommon to see a patient exhibiting no symptoms for many years before the first signs surface.

Symptoms include, chronic coughing, shortness of breath and chest pain. The illness starts in the air sacs located inside the lungs. As these sacs are getting destroyed the regular lung function gets severely impaired. Eventually, carbon dioxide is being admitted to the blood stream instead of oxygen. The disease is not curable, however, treatment options are available. Smokers are advised to quit their habit for obvious reasons. Some patients may require additional oxygen support. Further to that, the doctors may prescribe so called broncho-dilators. Those drugs help to open up the airways of the lungs. In extreme cases, the situation may require the patient to undergo a lung transplant.

If a person is suffering from any of the aforementioned symptoms, medical assistance should be sought  as soon as possible. The sooner a diagnosis can be made, the better are the chances of an effective treatment.
