Upgrade Your Wardrobe to 2010

August 29th, 2010

The color turquoise lies somewhere between blue and green, and is often known to represent water and evoke images of seascapes and tropical escapes.

Named after a gem that bears colors that range from sky blue to deep greenish blues, the color turquoise is used in many applications. Turquoise is known to have a calming, soothing effect. The color also creates a feminine appeal in lighter shades. Darker shades give a more sophisticated look. The different shades of turquoise come in many names:  darker shades are called teal or ultramarine, mid tones are called blue-green, and lighter shades or aqua or aquamarine.

Lighter shades of turquoise can also be called cyan. Although largely identified as a 60s or 50s color, turquoise has revived its appeal this year and has been seen sprucing up runways and design houses. The turquoise revival has also been helped along by Pantone, one of the top professional color agencies. Pantone has chose turquoise as its color of the year, replacing last year’s Mimosa – a warm shade of yellow.

You can easily upgrade your wardrobe to 2010 with a few wisely selected pieces, starting with turquoise shoes. The color matches exceptionally well with all neutrals: black, brown, white, and gray. The most beautiful combinations are made by turquoise and gray. Another excellent match is turquoise shoes with any chocolate-colored clothing.  Turquoise and chocolate is a classic combination that is right up there with the in-fashion look. While turquoise shoes with neutrals make a look that is truly excellent, nothing beats matching turquoise with blues and even violets. Because it incorporates shades of blue, turquoise shoes are perfect for light blue frocks, blue suits and jackets, and blue skirts. While turquoise appears to be a summer or spring color, the way it conjures images of the tropics and a general feel of escape, its appeal can work its way past these two seasons.

Because turquoise works rather well with orange, reds and browns which are fall colors, your turquoise shoes will extend their wear well into autumn an even in winter.  Choose darker shades in regular leather or suede to give yourself more range for seasonal dressing. Darker shades also work well with livelier colors like reds and pinks. A pair of strappy turquoise shoes will complement a red blouse or a pink top. Turquoise shoes will not be hard to find with turquoise being named color of the year. Match it with other accessories to complete the look.

Modern Hippie Clothes-Drug Rugs

August 25th, 2010

Hippie culture gained popularity during the 60s and many people raised their eyebrows on the kind lifestyle they are leading. Another thing that the people raised eyebrows on is their kind of clothing. Hippie clothes are what conservative people would call “scandalous”. The drug rugs were very popular along with the tie dye hoodie.

Hippie clothes would usually include miniskirts, halter tops, bellbottoms and loose clothing and spaghetti strap tops. Well of course, during the sixties, social restrictions in dressing are really strict.

However, these days, people might not realize but the hippie clothes are back on style. Designers have incorporated the hippie culture in the clothes they make including the use of cotton and hemp as the kind of cloth that they use. Though hippie clothes are mostly incorporated on women’s clothes, vests for men are also back in style and surprisingly, they are popular in the hippie culture too.

The main principle in hippie clothing are basically lots of colors, looseness and sexiness in an unkempt way. So, just with these descriptions, we now have an idea of which clothes were from the hippie culture, right? Maxi dresses, and those loose umpire dresses are actually from the sixties. But that is not all, leather flat sandals and rompers are actually based on the hippie clothing.

This type of clothing used to raise eyebrows but now, everybody wants them because they look good, sexy and are very comfortable to wear. Many Hollywood actors are actually a fan. One prominent one is Nicole Richie. She is like the epitome of the modern hippie clothing. Casual wears, formal wears and even just the everyday clothes of Ms. Richie really includes a hippie factor.

Many others wear hippie inspired clothing, but though they do not know the real focus of the hippie lifestyle, it is still good that the hippie clothes are not forgotten by the people.

What To Wear With A White Linen Suit

August 21st, 2010

A white linen suit is a great choice for summer wear but many men find it difficult to compose an outfit around it that they are comfortable with. For men who are unused to wearing a white suit it can be a daunting task. A linen suit too is seen as difficult by those unused to them. Together a white linen suit can cause wardrobe problems.

The simplest way to wear a white suit is white on white. A white suit over a white shirt works perfectly in both formal and casual situations and is ideal for hot weather. For formal situations the white suit is best worn with brown leather shoes and a matching brown leather belt. White shoes really are only for sports or casual wear. If wearing a tie it should be of subdued pattern and sober color. For casual wear the shirt can be replaced by a good white t-shirt.

All white can be sometimes too much and in particular for the fairer complexioned man. In this case he is probably best advised to contrast his white suit with a dark shirt. A black shirt is a little too much but a dark navy blue button down is ideal for casual wear. A pale blue with a red tie would make a nice contrast to a formal suit and is so conservative that it will make a whit suit seem a safe sensible choice in the most staid of offices.

For a more relaxed and casual look try mixing a white linen suit with casual clothes. The jacket can be worn over a pair of jeans for example. The pants of a white linen suit can be worn on their own in many situations. A bright shirt will cheer them up for the beach while a dark sweater creates a smart college look for the fall semester.

While men may be wary of something as bright as a white suit they should not be. It can be worn in many ways and adapted to many styles. Really, a white suit is a white canvas for a man to draw his personality on.

Fun and Versatile Sarongs

August 20th, 2010

When it comes to versatile summer fashion, sarongs may be the ideal way to effectively combine function with style. Known by different names in different parts of the world, these centuries-old articles of clothing may serve as traditional dress, as stylish beachwear, or as part of a summer clothes wardrobe. Moreover, the popularity and uses for a sarong are continually evolving, as evidenced by the vast array colors, patterns and fabrics currently on the market.

Kikoys, sarong-type garments originally for men, are beautiful pieces of rectangular-shaped woven cotton that have evolved into an indispensible clothing item for men and women of all ages. Consequently, there are numerous online offerings for this garment in its more traditional form, as well as in the form of a beach towel. Lined with cotton towel fabric, it becomes a kikoy beach towel, still perfect to wear or use when lying out in the sun.

Beach accessories, like the accompanying beautiful weather, should be light and effortless. Wearable sarong beach cover-ups aptly combine the usefulness of a beach-style towel with the wear ability of a sarong, while eliminating the bulk of a traditional towel designed specifically for the beach.

When thinking about building your warm weather wardrobe, be sure to consider sarongs as a way to update your summer accessories. These comfortable and beautiful pieces are suitable for men, women, and children of any body type. Many styles, like the kikoy, even have functional pockets sewn into them, allowing wearers to conveniently store their cell phone and car keys safely and securely, while still moving about freely. Moreover, they are readily available for purchase online through a number of outlets. Whether the desire is for the more traditional varieties or for lightweight wearable sarong-style towels, these beautiful items will no doubt make summer dressing more satisfying.

Buying Affordable Baby Boy Clothes

August 17th, 2010

Many parents have a limited budget when it comes to buying baby items.  Unless you have pregnancy insurance coverage, having a baby is not cheap, although it is always more than worth it once you hold your new baby boy for the first time.  Having a baby boy is absolutely wonderful, no matter who you are or where you are from.

If you are one of many new parents looking for cute baby boy clothes on a limited budget, then you may want to consider buying the clothes you need second hand.  Buying baby boy clothes second hand is not hard at all.  There are Goodwill and discount second hand clothing stores in any city, large or small.  Also, check out your hometown newspaper classifieds as well as craigslist to find parents selling all kinds, styles, sizes and brand names of baby clothes.

Often you can find new or almost new newborn clothes for sale second hand, at only a fraction of the price that they would be new.  One practical tip to keep in mind when shopping for baby boy clothes is to buy not only newborn size clothes, but clothes in the 3 – 6 months range also.  First of all, you never know how big your newborn baby will be when born.  Doctors can give a pretty good estimate based on your ultrasound, but they can not tell you for sure the exact size or weight.  Also, newborn babies grow pretty fast. They will often outgrow newborn baby clothes before you know it and then you will be thankful you have larger size baby boy clothes on hand to put on.

While there are some very cute styles of baby boy clothes, keep in mind that you will want baby boy clothes that are practical and easy to wash.  Also, do not buy clothes that are not easy to take off and put back on again; most babies do not like being dressed, especially if it involves slipping a tight around the neck sweater on and off again. Buying sweaters with side, back or front buttons is much more practical.

Of course, you can also find baby boy clothes for sale new at fairly affordable prices, if you know where to look.  Avoid higher end brand names and clothes featuring famous Disney characters and particular sport’s teams, as these often cost more.  Instead, get other cute boy styles that are more generic and therefore more affordable.

Maternity Swimwear – What Style to Buy?

August 15th, 2010

If you’re planning to swim during your pregnancy then you will need some well fitting maternity swimwear. Your regular swimsuit may well fit during the first and the beginning of the second trimester but as you grow larger, you will feel much more comfortable and supported in a swimsuit designed especially for pregnant women.

Just like regular swimwear, swimwear for pregnancy comes in a range of different styles to suit different tastes and body types. There’s no shortage of choice when it comes to style or design these days so you’ll find it easy to choose a swim suit that is both comfortable and looks stylish.

A maternity tankini is one of the most popular styles due to its versatility and the fact that tankinis look flattering on nearly any body shape. A tankini is a two piece bathing suit like a bikini but the top covers all or the majority of your stomach, giving you the coverage of a one-piece suit with the versatility of a bikini. Most pregnant women find tankinis very comfortable to wear during pregnancy and they also look great, providing coverage for the bump while still looking cute and stylish.

Bikinis are a good choice for women who are confident with the way that their body looks and would like to show off their bump, or don’t like the feeling of it being restricted under a swimsuit. Maternity tankinis usually feature extra stretchy bottoms to allow for growth and supportive tops which is very important during pregnancy.

You can choose from all the normal top and bottom styles just as you would with regular swimwear – choose wider straps or a halter neck to support a large chest or a bandeau or spaghetti strap style for smaller bosoms. You can disguise big hips with a skirted bottom or boy short style bikini bottoms.

A Quick Look at Cashmere Wool Clothing

August 7th, 2010

Any type of woolen material is sure to bring warmth and comfort when made into a piece of clothing. Wool is designed by Mother Nature to keep animals warm in the cold. When harvested from the animal, wool can be used by humans to make clothing. This process is completely safe for the animals, as the wool is harvested by hand with shears. After the wool has been removed, the thicker hairs, oil and dirt must be removed. This ensures that the finished product is as soft as it can be. The base product is then spun into various thicknesses of yard. The thinner yarns will be used to make thin fabric such as that used in business socks. The thicker yarns will be made into things like fluffy socks, sweaters and scarves.

Cashmere is perhaps the softest and more revered type of wool available. China is currently the largest producer of cashmere, although some is made closer to home in smaller quantities. Cashmere comes naturally in three colors of brown, white and grey. However, cashmere is rarely left in these colors. This is because cashmere can be dyed in a variety of colors ranging from bright red to deep royal blue.

The highest quality cashmere products are woven tightly using a large amount of yarn. Cheaper varieties will use less material, thus making them less warm and soft. Socks are popular cashmere products because they are so soft on the feet. Whether worn inside shoes to prevent scuffing or worn on a bare floor, cashmere socks are sure to keep your feet warm and comfy. When shopping for socks, be sure to select one hundred percent cashmere products. This ensures that you are not getting a blend which mixes cashmere with other products. Cashmere products are available at most mid to high end retailers. Additional info can be read at Comfy Cashmere Socks.

What you need to know about demi bras

August 2nd, 2010

‘Demi’ means half in French. The half cup brassieres that keep the upper portion of the breasts uncovered are called demi bras. Most women need and want this portion of the bra.

Their job is to cover and hold the breast’s lower portion firmly and also to boost the cleavage. If a dress with low cut neckline is to be worn, a demi bra is useful as it is not visible to the naked eye. It does an amazing job at giving you exactly what you need, without being visible to everyone you want to impress! The woman gets a refined appearance due to the lift.

All half brassieres or demi bras have similar characteristics like widely spaced shoulder straps for equal distribution of breast weight. Demi’s underwire bra and a variety of demi bra, have an underwire that gives enhanced support and lift. Fitted with a thick and boned bra band, it works just like push up bras except that it does not have extra thick paddings or removable gel inserts like push up bras.

A number of style variations are available in demi bras, like demi lace bras or demi underwire bras. They are trendy and sensuous, and are designed using different fabrics in a variety of colors and elaborate carved edgings and lace. Stage performers, dancers and celebrities generally wear demi bras as they enhance the bust line and impart an attractive shape.

On the contrary, there are a few drawbacks with demi bras like less support as compared to full bras. If they are not fitting correctly, breasts may look either cut off or appear to protrude.

Unless you are someone with small breasts, these bras aren’t for a daily use. Only a perfectly fitting demi bra can be worn underneath thin or see through materials or t-shirts. A demi bra is supposed to sit in place to be a comfortable accessory because wrinkles, puckers and gaps don’t go well with these bras. The bra should not be riding up and the neck strap should be a perfect fit. It is a no-brainer that when selecting a demi cup bra, women should always pick a bra with a cup size that fits them right and not a smaller size which is the usual inclination. It helps to shop with the knowledge of your cup size before hand. Spandex and Lycra are fabrics that have a property to stretch the bra cup, which is important for a beautiful and comfortable fit. This should help you feel ready and confident!
